Our Egg-speriment!

23rd Mar 2026

In Primary Two, our World Around Us topic is The Farm, and we have been learning about the life cycle of a hen.  As part of this learning, we discussed how an egg needs to be strong to keep the growing chick inside safe during the incubation period.  To explore this idea, the girls carried out a fun egg-speriment to test just how strong an egg can be.  They made predications, voted on what they thought would happen and carefully observed the results as we stacked books on top of four eggs.  To our amazement, the eggs held a total of 112 books before one egg finally cracked! The experiment was a wonderful way to encourage curiosity, teamwork and scientific thinking.
