Maths Week Ireland

The girls in Primary 2 have been reading Room on the Broom by Julia Donaldson and have had great fun completing a series of magical maths activities to celebrate Maths Week Ireland.  First we searched for the perfect stick to create our very own broomsticks.  We developed our mathematical language on measure to compare sticks that were longer and shorter.  Next, we used cubes to measure the length of our broomsticks and we collected the data and recorded our findings on a table.  After that, we took our broomsticks outside to see how far they could fly! We then used crates to measure how far they flew.  Finally, we recorded our measurements on a huge pictogram by putting our broomsticks against the numbered crates.  Well done girls!
