Investigating the Properties of 3D shapes

Today we constructed 3D shapes using cocktail sticks and mini marshmallows. We investigated the faces, edges and vertices of several 3D shapes such as a cube, cuboid, triangular prism, square based pyramid, triangular based pyramid and completed a 3D shape hunt. We even constructed the 3D shapes with curved faces such as a cone, sphere and cyclinder using play dough to ensure our investigation was complete. We really enjoyed making the shapes and especially eating the mini marshmallows we used as vertices when we finished!
